Andre Meadows on “What About Gremlins?”

Friend of the site and YouTube video creator Andre “Blacknerd” Meadows has released a Black Nerd Rants video about Gremlins!
He has been a huge fan and supporter of everything Gremlins for as long as I have known him and proudly wears his Gremlin fandom on his sleeve for all to see.

I don’t normally link to vlogs as they aren’t my thing, but Andre has been a positive force in the Gremlins community and this video raises some great points that everyone should see and I am sure most Gremlins fans can relate to.

As many of you know I love Ghostbusters as a close second, but Gremlins is my one true love in pop culture, so I really hope that we see more Gremlins in the near future over anything Ghostbusters, or as many say…why not both? Check out the video below:

One thing I want to address that Andre did not, is how Ghostbusters has a lot more wish fulfillment and roleplay that tied into children’s hearts in the 80’s all the way to today. It is easier to pretend you are a Ghostbuster versus specifically being Billy from Gremlins. Ghostbusters in that respect is an easier sell for toys. Everyone loves a cute Mogwai but kids don’t want to BE a mogwai for the most part. They want to bust ghosts and be the hero. So I get it from a marketing standpoint.
All that said I am sure there were at least a few others out there that would carry their Hasbro Softies Gizmo doll with them everywhere in a backpack, even going so far as to rip their shirts pretending they were Billy Peltzer. No? Just me? Ok then.

{Gremlins In The Media} Ready Player One Standee Featuring Gizmo!

I posted this earlier on our facebook group (Come join! but thought those of you that pass through the site would like to see the photos of the Ready Player One Standee with Gizmo! The standee seems to be exclusive to Wal-Mart in my area, so check it out if you get a chance!

In other Ready Player One news, I am attempting to get some screengrabs of the Gremlins and Gizmo (Graffiti in the latter case) but have not been able to get a clear shot as the scenes featuring Stripe are incredibly busy. If anyone has screencaps out there, send them in and I’ll be happy to feature them!

{Rumor Mill} Gremlins coming to LEGO Dimensions?!

Leaked footage from an upcoming LEGO Dimensions trailer, presumably planned to be featured at E3 next week has gotten the Gremlins Universe all abuzz with this one moment, screencaptured by @BrentOnInternet (

The rumors on multiple websites claim that the new LEGO Dimensions game will have:

Sonic the Hedgehog, Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them, Goonies, Ghostbusters, Powerpuff Girls, Adventure Time, Teen Titans and Mission Impossible

Goonies, Ghostbusters and Gremlins all in the same game? Along with Finn & Jake and the Powerpuff Girls? This can’t be. This is extremely exciting. At least we seem to have confirmation that Gremlins will be in the game, via the trailer that was quickly taken down.

More details as they become available!

I had the pleasure of interviewing Aelia as she was finishing this book, and while the intent was originally to release the interview when the book launched on June 8th to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Gremlins, I decided to wait until people had some time to enjoy the book and absorb the incredible amount of love that was put into the project before posting the interview.

Check it out after the break!
